About Us

Back in 1985, the PalmCross® idea evolved from a team experience when Ron Foht was commissioned as lay leader for a three-day retreat. He carved the PalmCross® for use as each team member delivered a talk while holding the cross in the palm of their hand. The cross was made from walnut, and he didn’t have time to apply a finish before the retreat because he ran out of time! After the weekend, Ron was amazed to see that the character of the cross had changed because the wood had absorbed the oils from the hands of the people who held it. Each person had truly become part of the cross!

Prayers Were Answered

Then in early 1997, Ron’s job of 30 years began to disintegrate due to downsizing and competition. Ron and his wife Elaine sought God’s direction, and their prayers were answered. By December 1997, they received copyrights and trademarks on the PalmCross® design, shape, and name and proceeded to make and sell the cross to family, friends, and the public. They soon began receiving letters and phone calls from people sharing what the PalmCross® meant to them. Ron and Elaine realized that the Lord had simultaneously given them a wonderful job and a fulfilling ministry!

In 2000 Joe and Deena Rogers experienced their three-day weekend retreat, just as Ron had. In 2008 Joe was the lay leader for a similar three-day retreat and received his PalmCross® from that weekend. Similarly, in 2011, Deena received her PalmCross® from her turn as a lay leader on another weekend. Both have cherished their PalmCrosses ever since.

Re-Opened in Kansas

In late 2018 Joe experienced a similar downsizing from his job and began to look for other opportunities. Then in 2019, Joe discovered ByRon PalmCross was no longer producing crosses after retirement and contacted Ron to see what had happened with the business. After getting to know one another and after some prayerful consideration, the decision was made to purchase the business assets and move production to Kansas. In September 2019, PalmCross® re-opened in Kansas with Joe and Deena Rogers at the helm.  PalmCross® continues to be a ministry and blessing for all those involved!

The Product

PalmCrosses™ are 4″x 5″ in size and hand-crafted in the USA from hardwood lumber. The beautiful grain produces many variations, making each cross one-of-a-kind.

The front and back surfaces are slightly curved to fit into the “palm” of the hand. No varnish or lacquer is applied; therefore, the oils from the hands holding the PalmCross™ become the finish. Every cross is numbered on the back with the year of copyright (1997), the year it was carved, and the number of that particular style.

When gifting a PalmCross™, we invite you to hold the cross and pray for the recipient(s), thereby embedding the oils from your hands into the wood. You will then be giving part of yourself. The PalmCross™ remains a symbol of your love and support through our Lord Jesus Christ.
